Inspiration everywhere – yellow and purple

I came across this image on Pinterest and thought two things.

  1. I would never have thought to put those colours together in one outfit – does it work? Heck yeh it does.
  2. I would luuuuurve to use these colours in one room.

Bright colours tend to make people nervous, so we shy away from using them and opt for the easy and safe neutral palettes.

If you love bold colours and loud patterns, use them – some of them should come with a ‘use carefully’ warning but there are ways to make everything work.

one:  Trellis wallpaper by Harlequin – a geometric cube design in purple.

two: yellow curtains will brighten up even the darkest of rooms, go floor to ceiling for maximum accent like these Ochre stem jacquard eyelet curtains by Next.

three: for a more subtle combination try a cushion like this Carraway from made.com.

four: this vase from Nordic Bliss is so cute you don’t even need the flowers.

five: even the classics aren’t afraid of colour, Eames DSR chair from the Conran store.

six: if this isn’t one of the best uses of colour then I don’t know what is – Boulder display tall unit from Coucou Manou.

seven: this beautiful Norton wing chair by James Harrison is available in different colours, fabrics and leather, but I think it’s pretty perfect in purple.

So what do you think? Are you brave enough to go for it?
