Print Club London: Summer Screen Prints

print club london

During my August break I went back to Somerset House to watch ‘The Untouchables’ during the ‘Film4 Summer Screen’ season.

As part of the season, Print Club London held an exhibition in the newly opened West Wings. Inspired by the films shown this year, illustrators from the UK, USA and Europe designed and produced 16 limited edition, silk screen, original screen prints. Only 200 of each were made and all prints were hand pulled and signed by the illustrator.

So while I waited for the film to get started, I went for a wander round the exhibition.

The ‘Raising Arizona’ poster jumped out at me immediately for a few reasons; is that my favourite colour in full effect? Why yes I think it is. Do I love the film, why yes I do – and completed by the fact that I really like the way this print perfectly sums up the whole film, of course I had to have it…

Then I saw this one…

The colours, style and font paying homage the fabulous 1920s – I got a little excited. Considering I was there to see The Untouchables, it felt right.

So I got them both – happy birthday to me!
